Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She's an American-Mexican actress. She sings as well. Her mother raised her in the USA and she was subject to numerous racial slurs that caused her to feel as someone who was not wanted. After entering a ninth-grade school audition where she received high praise for her voice as she built confidence. It not only boosted her confidence but was also a change in the direction she pursued in her professional career. At 22, she graduated from New York's Julliard School. Her professional career began at age 23 with Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and You've Got Mail in film. Her most memorable break came from her role as The Lady of The Lake in the original Broadway version of Spamalot. The show won her the Tony Award and received great praise for the role. In the following year, she was cast as the character Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gain more fame. She is known as a performer and has also released a single as well as an extended version of her play. She is an activist who is a tireless advocate in the cause of LGBT equality.
